i had written a nice long post extolling the virtues of eateries in vancouver, but i lost it because the computer i was using died on me....
so now, a different sort of post.
i don't want to live my life from week to week, having my mood depend on what happens on a daily or weekly basis. i think life is more than that. we should have eyes to see a farther horizon. nothing is just about the here and now.
this ponderous moment was not, surprisingly, prompted by the start of '40 days of purpose' that our church is doing. i was just reading some random people's blogs & xangas, and i realized how much a lot of people just write about "well it's been a boring/great/horrible week so far because blah blah blah... hope the weekend gets better blah blah blah..." and it all seems so inconsequential. do our lives only consist of blocks of time pieced together, and if the majority of those blocks were "good", then we had a good life? i don't think so. (now the connection with '40 days of purpose' kick in) God created life (and our lives) to have continuity and significance to things around us. we are not stand alone, unattached, independent lives. what we do affect others, and eternity. WHAT WE DO AFFECTS ETERNITY. man, if that's not enough to blow my mind i don't know what it. and if that's not enough to make me take my life and my calling seriously, then nothing will. isn't it worth it to do everything in our power to find out what God's calling for our lives is if there IS one?
and there is.
